Pilio (also spelled Pelion or Pelio) is both a mountain range and a peninsula located in central Greece (Regional Unit of Magnesia, Region of Thessaly). That’s the encyclopedic definition.
But we love Pilio especially for its diversity and the beauty of its natural surroundings. The mountainous landscape is framed by the sea and beautiful beaches. In winter, snow sometimes falls, making skiing possible. In summer, the mountains and forests provide refreshing coolness and water, allowing lush vegetation even in high temperatures — and enabling the cultivation of fruits like kiwis and peaches.
That’s why staying here is a joy in any season — whether you’re swimming at the beach, hiking through the forests and macchia, or simply enjoying life under the great plane trees in the villages.
Pilio stretches from Keramidi in the far north all the way down to Trikeri at the tip of the peninsula. Our Pilio is the northern and central part, which stands out from the south due to its more untouched, forested landscape.
A visit to southern Pilio is still worthwhile — the scenery there is more reminiscent of southern France.
