Xenophon

The stories of Werner Helwig drew us to Pilio.

The foundation of the “Hellas Trilogy” was the life of Alfons Hochhauser, an Austrian adventurer who moved to Greece in the 1920s. Alfons Hochhauser, known as Xenophon (meaning “foreign-sounding”), spent most of his life in Pilio, ultimately settling in the bay of Koulouri below Veneto.

His stories continue to inspire young people to this day and serve as a guide for excursions in and around our house — a house whose visitors probably sound quite xenophon to our Greek neighbors as well.
